General Terms and Disclaimers

No reproduction, in whole or in part, may be made of any content on this site without the advance, written permission of the author.

The views and opinions expressed on this site are strictly those of the author and not of the United States government. My work here is not representative of the government in any way, nor my affiliation or employment with the government.

The author and any and all contributors, editors, or publishers assume no responsibility for the accuracy or timeliness of any information contained in this web site.

Policy on Reader Emails

I will make an honest effort to try to respond to all reader emails, either directly, or through posting to the site. No guarantees are made as to the timeliness of replies. As a matter of editorial and personal integrity, I read and analyze more of what I disagree with than not. I am not offended by people who disagree with me, and I will happily engage with readers who vocally disagree. However, all spam, obscene flaming emails, or personal/character attacks without substantiation will be summarily ignored.

Quotation of reader emails is opt-out throughout this site. In other words, unless you explicitly state otherwise in your reply, I will quote it directly and cite you as a “reader”, “subscriber”, etc. You will only be named if your email explicitly states it is okay to do so, or you post the same email content in a publicly visible location where you name yourself. All rights are reserved when quoting any emails to make typographical or formatting changes without notice. No facts or substantive opinions within your content will be altered.

Policy on Reader Comments

The comment system built into the site is also available for all readers, anonymous or otherwise. In the spirit of a clear, honest, and open debate, all readers are highly encouraged to comment. Anonymous comments are allowed, but discouraged–we believe in both community and freedom of speech, and one of the core tenets of such a community must be people’s ability to speak freely and openly, and stand behind those words without fear of retribution.

We maintain a zero tolerance policy for impersonation or falsely identifying yourself as someone else.

All rights are reserved to delete comments, trackbacks to sites, or any other off-topic, inappropriate, racist, obscene, or otherwise uncivil posts. Repeat offenders may be subjected to a number of penalties, including but not limited to moderator approval of their posts before it is published, being summarily banned from future posts through the comment system, restricted to participation solely by email, or banning from participation on any level.

We use IntenseDebate on this site to power the commenting system. This free system facilitates a more direct and coherent debate with features for replying directly by email, threading comment discussions, and improving the coherence of on-going dialog related to any given post. In order to use our commenting system, you are required to register before posting. Users who do not wish to register but still want to comment may do so by email.

Policy on Listed Links

The links provided on this site to sources of information I frequent are done so for informational purposes only. No warranties are expressed or implied as to the accuracy, availability, timeliness, or value of such sites. No anonymous sites will be listed.

Additionally, I reserve the right to moderate comments which contain more than 2 links to an outside site (a common tactic of many spammers).

Policy on Privacy

In addition to the issues of privacy addressed in the above sections, this site may use cookies to store information related to your session on the site, the pages you have visited, and the frequency of your visits. This information would be used to improve navigation for your experience, or for statistical reporting purposes. Under no circumstances will it contain personally identifiable information.

Like most sites, DanTrimble.com logs details of all visitors, including IP addresses, the date, time, and frequency of visits, length of stay of each visit, specific pages visited, search queries used to get to the site or while on it, and the browser and computer operating system each visitor uses. No personally identifiable information is known or recorded at any time. The information is used strictly for reporting and statistical analysis.

Lastly, notwithstanding the use of your email address or identity as prescribed above, no lists of readers, emails, or people will ever be disclosed to any 3rd party for any reason unless mandated by law.
